Imali Dias

Dr. Imali Dias received her PhD in Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The University of Melbourne, Australia in 2016. She is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Information Technology and teaches Embedded Systems Development. She is the Academic Director of Makerspace and is also the Academic Coordinator for the Deakin-Chitkara partnership program. Her current research interests include Internet of Things, energy-efficient wearable technologies, optical wireless convergence, low-latency communication, and engineering education.

Lashi Bandara

Dr. Lashi Bandara is a mathematician working on global analysis – an area that focuses on using techniques from mathematical analysis and operator theory to understand and solve geometric problems. He completed his PhD in mathematics at the Australian National University in 2013 during which time he was also an Australian-American Fulbright Scholar at Stanford and the University of Missouri. His undergraduate comprised of a Bachelor of Science as well as a Bachelor of Computer Science at Monash University. Prior to arriving at Deakin, he was a Lecturer in Mathematics at Brunel University of London and held postdocs at the Gothenburg University in Sweden and the University of Potsdam in Germany. Lashi also holds a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in recognition of his teaching.

Shantanu Pal

Dr. Shantanu Pal is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the School of Information Technology, Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia. Shantanu has extensive research experience and knowledge in Internet of Things, access control security, trust management, blockchain technology, mobile and cloud computing, distributed embedded networks, smart sensors applications, etc. He is a Senior Member of IEEE.

Son Tran

Dr. Son Tran serves as a Senior Lecturer in Data Science at the School of Information Technology, Deakin University, Australia. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from City, University of London, United Kingdom. Dr. Tran’s research interests are dedicated to building reliable, scalable, and robust artificial intelligence systems aimed at advancing the well-being of humanity. His research has been applied to diverse domains, including agriculture, healthcare, and environment. Dr. Tran’s contributions are featured in flagship AI conferences and journals such as AAAI, IJCAI, KR, IJCNN, ECIR, SIGIR, IEEE TNNLS, ACM CSUR, and ACM TMM.

Maksym Slavnenko

Dr. Maksym Slavnenko is an Associate Lecturer in Computer Science at Deakin. With over 12 years of experience in commercial application development, Maksym excels in teaching all stages of the software development process. His research interests are Authentication and Authorization, Privacy, Security, and System Design. His current research focus is on improvements in the NationalID Federations’ privacy and interoperability. His favourite place to do research is his balcony, which opens to Melbourne’s dynamic city views.

Chef Stephanie Brewster

Chef Brewster has been teaching Culinary Management students for almost 20 years. After spending several years back in the industry, she was excited to return to teaching, joining GBC’s Chef School. Her proficiency in both Culinary and Pastry, provides a unique perspective to food, which she loves to share with her students. Chef Brewster has traveled extensively. This global perspective is evident in her food and she loves to recreate various International dishes with her students. As her students prepare to leave for Toronto to finish their studies, Chef Brewster is excited to see where their own journeys take them. Hoping that they will embrace every moment and “never stop learning”

Chef Suzanne Baby

Renowned Chef Suzanne Baby, celebrated in Canada for her culinary mastery, earned accolades from esteemed publications like Frommer’s and Gourmet Magazine. Trained in Europe and George Brown College, she honed her skills at Windsor Arms Hotel and Toronto’s finest eateries. As Executive Chef at Hart House’s Gallery Grill, she continued to dazzle with her creations. Suzanne is an Honorary Fellow of the Ontario Hostelry Institute, advising internationally and chairing committees. A Red Seal Endorsed Chef and Level 3 Sommelier, she holds a Master of Education degree. Currently instructing at George Brown College, Suzanne resides in Toronto, cherishing family, travel, and nature.

Chef Hemant Kanchan CCC

Chef Hemant, hailing from Bombay, trained with Kempinski before refining his skills under Chef Anthony Marshall at Langham Hilton. He then ventured to Toronto’s Scaramouche with Keith Froggett and later joined Chef John Higgins at Le Royal Meridien King Edward. Hemant expanded his expertise at a Romantic Hotel in Germany and Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg. In Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah, he helmed “Napa” restaurant. Since 2009, Hemant has been a Chef Technologist at George Brown, eventually becoming a Chef Professor. With a rich culinary journey spanning continents, Hemant’s expertise shines at the intersection of experience and passion.

Robin Yap

Dr. Robin Yap, an accomplished expert in performance, learning, technology, and entrepreneurship, boasts a robust academic background and over two decades of global corporate experience. With dual doctorate degrees, specialized research, and publications, he’s been featured on CNN-Asia discussing corporate social responsibility and social media. Robin’s insights extend to CBC-Metro Morning, addressing topics like Productive Mobile Employees and Work-Life Balance. As a professor at George Brown College since 2009, he’s presented at over three dozen conferences worldwide. Currently, his research, sponsored by SSHRC-NSERC, delves into the journey of Canadian newcomers and their sense of belonging. Edward Perry

Edward, CEO of Point North, a consulting firm specializing in augmented intelligence learning journeys, boasts an interdisciplinary background in Organizational Behavior, Sales, Marketing, eCommerce, and Advanced Technology Convergences. With executive roles at global giants like Best Western’s Worldhotels Luxury Collection and HRS Group, he’s a respected figure in the industry. Edward, pursuing his doctoral program on Social Media’s impact on Pedagogy, has presented at over seventy global conferences and serves on executive boards of international professional associations. Allan Esser

Allan has over 20 years of industry experience in advanced business analytics that include; strategy design, portfolio analytics, project implementation and results measurement. Allan’s passion is in solving problems by developing and delivering solutions that add value through transforming data into knowledge and actionable decisions that can deliver measurable bottom-line results. Allan’s industry spans information management, database design, marketing research, financial modelling and risk management. He has worked with risk management industry thought leaders such IBM/Algorithmics, as well as a full range of domestic and International Financial institutions including; Bank of Montreal, GE, and Scotiabank International. Research interests include; credit and market risk management, financial modelling, automated decision process re-engineering, direct marketing and analysis, research methods and design, and customer management strategy development.

Shashi Shahi

Dr. Shashi Shahi is an expert in Supply Chain and Operations Management, specializing in Canadian industry challenges and using simulation-based optimization models to address supply and demand uncertainties. With expertise in Business Logistics Management, Business Data Analytics, and more, he integrates entire supply chains. Dr. Shahi holds a Doctorate in Supply Chain Management and multiple Masters degrees. He brings extensive experience from academia, research, and industry, including roles with the United Nations. Dr. Shahi’s contributions span teaching, research, and practical applications, making him a respected figure in the field of Supply Chain and Operations Management.

Imran Abdool

Imran Abdool is the Group President of Blue Krystal Technologies and Business Insights. In Canada, he has previously lectured in Economics and Finance at the University of Windsor, University of Western Ontario, and McMaster University. He is a former Instructor of Mathematics at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth in Baltimore, Md., USA. Imran is a past member of the Assistant Deputy Minister’s Office for Financial Sector Policy for Canada, at the Department of Finance Canada. Imran’s commentary on economic and financial matters often appears in the Globe and Mail, CBC National News, and the Toronto Star.

Ashish Mahajan

As a Full Professor of Management at the prestigious Odette School of Business, University of Windsor, Canada, Dr. Mahajan delves into organizational behavior, focusing on cross-cultural management, leadership dynamics, and HR practices. With prior corporate experience in India’s Telecom sector and consulting with William M. Mercer, he brings a wealth of practical insight to academia. Recognized for his scholarly contributions, he has received numerous awards and grants, enabling his ongoing research pursuits. His selected publications and projects underscore his commitment to advancing knowledge in management, reflecting his dedication to scholarly excellence and the exploration of organizational intricacies.

Ira Cohen

In 2018, Dr. Cohen returned from a 29-years of residency in China that included his stint as a Director and Executive Vice President of Universal Ideas Consultants Corp. For the past six years, Professor Cohen has been engaged as a sessional Lecturer, specializing in International Business and Strategy Management at Odette School of Business at University of Windsor. Renowned in entrepreneurship, SME start-ups, and market research, Cohen is a thought leader in ‘action learning’ with global acclaim for leadership development. He’s honored with the 2022 Global Forum Robert Dilworth Award and the ‘Global Research Excellence Award’ from the World Institute for Action Learning. Holding a BA, MA in Communication Arts, Postgraduate Diploma in International Business Management, MBA, and PhD, Cohen focuses on empowering entrepreneurs through action learning.

Jason Maeda

Jason Maeda is a Course Instructor and Teaching Assistant at Trent University’s School of Business, where he specializes in Human Resources and Management courses. Beyond his academic roles, Jason also owns and operates a Real Estate investment property business. Before joining Trent University, he worked as a Financial Advisor and Branch Manager at Canada’s largest financial institution. In his leisure time, Jason enjoys golfing and spending quality time with his dog.

Chantelle Whidden

Chantelle Whidden, a full-time lecturer at Trent University since 2023, has also taught part-time at various Ontario institutions, including Toronto Metropolitan University, McMaster University, Ontario Tech University, Durham College, and George Brown College. Her expertise lies in undergraduate diploma and post-grad certificate programs such as HRM, HR Planning, Training and Development, Compensation and Benefits, and Recruitment and Selection. With a background as an HR Business Partner for 5 years, she transitioned into full-time lecturing while maintaining part-time HR consulting. Chantelle holds a Masters’ Degree in HRM and IR from the University of Toronto and an undergraduate degree in Commerce from Ontario Tech University.

Alaa Alslaity

Alaa Alslaity is an Assistant Professor at Trent University, Canada, and an Adjunct Professor at Dalhousie University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Ottawa, Canada. His Ph.D. thesis was nominated for the Best Thesis Award 2021. Dr. Alslaity has published several peer-reviewed articles, two of which have received the Best Paper Award, in addition to two book chapters. His research interests include persuasive technology, personalization, user modelling, Recommender Systems, and Human-Computer Interaction.
