About the Workshop

The paradigm shift from Education 1.0 to Education 4.0 is beset with innumerable challenges. Further on, readjusting the education system to match the technological growth in the form of robotics and artificial intelligence, and graduating to an even higher model of Education 5.0 that aims at problem solving and value creation, will require a massive effort by all stakeholders, be it industry professionals, policy makers, teachers or students. Education 4.0 is a transformational change driven by the use of advanced digital technologies that places the learner at the centre of the teaching-learning process enabling him to govern his own academic development towards his unique goals. This new age education is beyond boundaries, beyond the educational institution, and is transnational in the real sense of the term. With no panacea for Covid-19 in the near future and with social distancing and lockdowns as the ‘new normal’, Education 4.0 is here to stay till the newer technologies are successfully implemented.

The onus of transforming conventional students into active learners rests, largely, on the teachers. In this strictly outcome-based education, the role of the teacher is required to be that of a guiding force or a mentor rather than that of just imparting knowledge. The lack of face-to-face contact with the class requires unique behavioural and instructional skills and competencies in the teacher and this master class is precisely about what these skills are and how to develop them. The strategies learnt during the sessions will help the participants overcome some of the hurdles of online teaching and thus create a dynamic teaching-learning environment.
