‘Global Village’ was organized in Chitkara University by AIESEC Chandigarh. Chitkara University is a hallmark in terms of imparting the real essence of education by providing the students’ a platform that involves every day learning, growing, developing and enabling them to become more global in thought, vision and perception. It is the only University in Himachal till now that has partnered with AIESEC Chandigarh and has taken the initiative to host the ‘Global Village’ in association with them. Global Village is a celebration of the diversity so prevalent in the world we live in. The event not only allows students to gain insight into the cultures from the countries and territories around them, it also builds up their awareness and pride around their own backgrounds in a fun and engaging way. International students from six different countries were present at CU to show case their culture through music, pictures and various other art forms.

Global Village kicked off with Country & culture presentations which took place beside tattoo and map marking games. Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor Chitkara University was present to encourage students and met the six interns Anna, Samantha, Yumi, Dorsey, Haldia and Joycylene who represented five countries Poland, Japan, China, Taiwan, Kazakhstan, Canada and Russia at the Global Village. She said these kinds of events in the university provide an excellent opportunity to students to experience participation in a global learning environment and enables young people to discover and develop their potential to provide leadership for a positive impact on society. The students of Chitkara University met and interacted with the interns to know more about their cultures and also participated in the activities/games organized for them. They got a chance to understand the cultural diversity that exists in the world and also how the cultures are closely knitted.

AIESEC is the world’s largest youth organization present in over 110 countries with a membership of over 46,000 young graduates. AIESEC facilitates a Global Internship Program for college students and recent graduates who enable its members to experience leadership opportunities as well as participation in a global learning environment.
