The students of MBA first year of Chitkara Business School got an excellent opportunity of being an important part of the India’s Largest Retail Supermarket, Big Bazaar, a subsidiary of Pantaloons Retail (India) Limited during the SS4D (Sabse Saste 4 Din ) A 4-day Mega Bonanza, during the Republic day week. The 8-day program was scheduled from 20th-27th January, 2010. During the first three days, the students helped all the departments in preparing for the Mega Event and during the SS4D the students helped the Big Bazaar team in exceeding not just their Zirakpur store target but also of most of the departments of the store.The students of CBS helped the team of Big Bazaar Zirakpur to achieve the phenomenal sales target of more than 1 crore on a single day.
It was a great exposure for the students as they not only learnt actual selling techniques, meeting targets and exceeding them but also got the real feel of the corporate culture. Most of the students also realized what their real areas of strength were for making a future.

The first batch of MBA students as part of their curriculum for the first year worked with Premium Homeware, Indian subsidiary of “OXO” which is innovative in consumer products that make everyday living easier. With intelligently designed, ergonomic and elegant products – OXO is one of the leading brands in the kitchenware segment.
Our students as part of their learning process, had to work in teams on projects dealing with Anthropological aspects Forensic and Statistical Market Research Visual Merchandising, Road shows, Demonstration& Sampling, Channel identification and Population and Retail Initiatives The reports generated
by CBS teams helped “Premium Homeware” management team to customize the OXO products for the North Indian market and design their launch strategy accordingly.
Winter School on Financial Markets at FTKMC, Mumbai
A batch of 30 students from MBA first year of CBS attended a 15-day long Winter School program on Financial Markets at FTKMC, Mumbai. FTKMC is a sister concern of Financial Technologies Group popularly known for setting up India’s No.1 Multi Commodity Exchange. During this program, the students visited MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange), Bombay Stock Exchange, Mandis (Warehousing at Vaashi, Mumbai), Reserve Bank of India, Yes Bank, Angel Broking, etc. to gain the practical insight of financial markets. The students were given theoretical and practical exposure to Equity, Commodity and Currency markets via expert lectures by more than 30 professionals from Motilal Oswal Securities, Kotak Securities, UTI, Tata Securities, Angel Broking, MCX-SX, BSE Executives, NBHC officials, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Reserve Bank of India, The Clearing Corporation of India, Dalton Capital Advisors etc. The batch was addressed by Mr. UR Bhatt, renowned columnist in Economic Times and expert in Financial Markets. Besides Ms. Deena Mehta, Managing Director Asit C Mehta Investments and a known name in equity market gave away the certificates to the students. Mr. Lamon Rutten, MD & CEO of MCX and Mr. Venkat Raman, CEO of MCX-SX also addressed the students during the program.
The program has benefited the students in terms of understanding the nature of emerging asset classes in financial markets. They were exposed to commodity trading, currency exchange & warehousing specifically during the program. This program has opened new avenues for all the students of Chitkara to take up their career in Financial Market.
